June Bugs

I have so many random ideas rolling around in my head; they are like little bugs crawling around. And strangely, one of them is, "It's June? Really?" It's been decidely un-June-like here lately, cloudy, rainy, stormy of the spring sort. We've had below normal temperatures and there is not a single June bug to be found. If they don't show up until next month will we have to call them July bugs this year?

I feel the need to record all this stuff so I don't forget something, in case I actually have time to do some or all of it later.

- I'm mulling over knitting trim for sewn garments. I have a knit jersey gathered shirt with a hand knit placket brewing.

- We have several kids' birthdays coming and I need some quick, easy, inexpensive gifts.

- Monkey Bread. I made one recipe yesterday that monkeyed around in the oven; I don't want to post it for you guys until I can be certain that the recipe and directions will not cause you to need to air out your house as well.

- The toddler is starting to really want to draw things. I had an idea a while back for toddler picture starters, and I've started a list of ideas. I'm thinking about putting them together as an email PDF on etsy. Anyone interested in this?

- Putt-putt for the backyard. Read Sarah's post here. We NEED this...

- We could also all really get into a banging wall. It's in The Creative Family by Amanda Soule. I keep forgetting to look for things to use for "music" making percussive style when we are at the thrift and garage sales.

- A family activity jar is also in the mental works. More details to come on this when I have it figured out.

- We've already started some preschool activities around here for the toddler. We're slowly integrating some unschooling ideas, but as a former educator, I really feel that we need more structure than that provides. I'm planning on "home schooling" him next year, but I don't like the connotation implied by that term. Plus, I think we will continue teaching him in this way even when/if he's going to school some where else. The term learning at home seems to fit for us, so you'll be seeing more about that later too.

- There's a big surprise project for the toddler's birthday that I'm not even telling Hubby much about. I'm hoping to go all Anthony Pack on it, so I'm looking for a good junk yard in our area. Suggestions?

- That begs the toddler's THIRD (Holy cow!) birthday to mind. (Hmmm... He won't be a toddler any more, will he?) He's chosen a construction theme for his party, and requested a bulldozer cake. Mulling that one over too.

- And then there's the June goals.
- I must, simply must, try Amy Karol's homemade deodorant this month.
- I'd like to finish painting the cabinet and table for the studio, plus paint the wall where they will go.
- I've got to get the canning supplies in order around here.
- I want to finish the trim on one leg of the Unmentionables, and of course, finish a block for the SSS.
- I have to start on the work for my October show at the gallery.
- I'd really like to get the stuff in the hallway to Goodwill and the bathroom upstairs finished. Oh, and start keeping our bedroom tidier.

That's plenty, right? Or is that too much? June is only one month, and at that, just 30 days. And it is a third over... But I've got to knock some of this stuff out, because I have big plans for July too!
