It's like being caught with your hand in the cookie jar, right? I headed down to old Overland Park last Saturday with the baby to do some much needed shopping. We were out of garlic powder and pepper, people; cooking was getting ugly around here! After the necessary, yet fun, purchases of elastic at Harper's and spices at Penzey's, I made two more completely frivolous stops. I just can't go walk around OP without heading into Ten Thousand Villages and The Yarn Shop.
Turns out that The Yarn Shop was in the process of moving across the street, so they had all their back room clearance at 60% off! I could have bought SO MUCH yarn, but I have a budget to keep and a family to feed. So I happily settled for those four skeins of Classic Elite's Patina. It's a nice cotton/silk blend like the Frog Tree I'm planning on using to finish the SSS, but in a chunkier yarn. And I think it may become I nice spring/fall scarf, and possibly a hat, for one of your birthdays.
In other news, the cleaning out is still some what halted, unless the fridge counts again. Or we could count the three times in the last 24 hours I have picked up the books off the floor in the toddler's room. The baby has a cold, so everything is a bit crazy. Sleep is not up to our usual not enough, but passable, standards, and the ability to put him down and get something done is minimal at this point. This too shall pass!
I am managing to get some things done, despite the obstacles. I'm five minutes of sewing from finishing an item for the shop, and I should reach the buff border part of the April block for the SSS tonight. As an added bonus, the laundry got sorted yesterday, and I even managed to get a load started today. It was either that or choose between wearing dirty clothes and going naked since it's completely out of the question to just go shopping instead of wash.
I know the last thing I need is more yarn, but it's so soft, summery, and bright. And it was 60% off! Who can pass that up?
