I always knew that my washing machine was important...

I really needed a dose of spring today too. I miss green and flowers. Hubby and I used to drive to Texas for Spring Break every year and it was like fast forwarding into spring as we drove. I do believe that by the time it gets really green round here, we'll have another baby.
My 2 year old washer is on the fritz. It's not just acting strange, it won't finish a load. I had just gotten caught up from the 10 day laundry challenge that came with the intestinal virus the toddler had, but I hadn't gotten to our laundry yet. Hubby and I are both starting to run out of things to wear, and we'd really like to have clean sheets and towels. We're not to the gross point yet, but if I can't get that washer doing it's job soon, we just might become the smelly family.
It's put a strain on the sewing around here too. I bought myself a pair of pants at Old Navy over the weekend that were too long; I opted for a cut-off with some decorative stitching instead of a hem. I ended up wearing them before I frayed them in the wash. I've even chosen not to pre-wash the fabrics for the curtains that will go in the toddler's new room; they need to get done quickly so we can get him moved. I can't opt out of pre-washing fabrics for his crib skirt, or window seat cushion.
I also finished knitting the hat for my sister-in-law's boyfriend. I hand-washed and blocked it just like I normally would, but it ended up a bit big. I figured a trip through the dryer when it was still damp would do the trick, but my dryer is currently housing a sopping wet blanket that I had to take out of the washer!
I've always been thankful for my washer. I use it constantly. It is well loved and cared for. But I will be going into battle with it one more time tomorrow. If I lose this time, my Kenmore will be meeting the Sears repair man.
My minivan is broken. And there is no doubting it's importance!
