I'm making surprisingly quick progress on the Hoover Blanket. And not much progress on anything else. That's about a weeks worth of work up there. It helps that I'm dragging it to the couch twice a day to prop up my left ankle and knit, uninterrupted, for 30 minutes or so. That's also why not much else is getting done; by the time I eat lunch and get off my feet for a while, the toddler is awake!
I will admit that this is my second go at the blanket. I originally cast on the recommended 110 stitches and knit a few rows to realize that my gauge was only going to get me a blanket 24 inches wide. I frogged it all and cast on 150 stitches instead; that's what I get for not knitting a gauge swatch. The blanket looks to be about 36 inches wide now, but I'm guessing that I'll have to buy a few more skeins of yarn.
I've also never double knit before. And I made a silly little error in the third row of stripes: I had knit my tail in when I added the sage color and neglected to remember my doubled stitches. That meant my whole pattern was thrown off. Fortunately, I realized something was wrong about halfway through that row and tinked back. It didn't take me long to find my mistake...
I did manage to get some quilting done yesterday on a secret baby quilt. I hope to finish the quilting and pin the binding tonight. As soon as it is finished, I'll share it with you!
Jen,
You are really a busy mom. I love the goodies you've been sewing for baby. I think you must enjoy sewing even more than knitting; or like myself, almost anything that has a thread in it. Thanks to my mom and sisters for passing these crafts on to me. I bet you come from a fiber talented family too.
