A little piece of his heart

I made my boys matching shirts for Valentine's Day this year. When I printed all the hearts for the Mid-Winter Gocco Swap and the Valentine Swap, I also printed one on a shirt for hubby. Just before I made the print, I cut out a small flannel heart and placed it on the shirt. When I pulled the print, I had a shirt with a heart "cut-out" and a small heart that was printed to match the cut-out on the larger tee. All I had left to do was heat set both pieces and appliqué the small heart on a onesie for the toddler.

I love how they turned out! I think the guys looks really cute together today. And a little piece of his heart seemd nicer and much more appropriate than a chip off the old block!

But I can't take all the credit. I actually got the idea from Sarah's post here. She was making an apple tree shirt for her husband and an apple shirt for her son. Too cute! Having been in education for a while, I loved the play on the apple not falling far from the tree.
