Secrets kept and revealed

See those two bunnies. I looked over the other day and they had shifted so they were leaning on each other. I won't tell you who those two are for, don't want to give anything away. But I will say that I am certain that the two recipients of these bunnies are going to be very good friends. I found it quite telling that out of the whole bunch, these two were the only ones who needed a buddy to lean on, and they chose each other.

There was a baby shower for my sister-in-law this weekend at her mom's house in Newton. I feel terrible about the fact that I wasn't able to make, and neither was the rest of the family from our side. We were all in Nauvoo for Grandma's funeral. The shower must go on, right? So I sent her gift with one of her sisters. I made her a hooded baby towel and four hand knit wash cloths. The towel is this pattern here from the Purl Bee, but I used terry from JoAnn's and duck print from Harper's. I think the yellow polka-dot I used for the bias tape was a remnant from Hancock's.

The hand knit wash clothes were all from dish cloth cotton, mostly Sugar n' Cream. The variegated on the right with brown in it is the Peaches & Cream that Tori sent me for Secret Pal 11. I knit all of them on size 7 needles from yarns in my stash. I cast on 24 stitches and just varied the pattern for each cloth, knitting until I was out of yarn or it was big enough. I got the idea from a cloth Juli sent me for the toddler during Secret Pal 10. The hand knit cloth is my favorite one to use for his bath; it's so much softer than those store bought ones!

I rolled each of the cloths up and tied it with a ribbon, then I added a bottle of Burt's Bee's Baby shampoo and wash and a police rubber ducky, and rolled it all up in the towel so everything was peeking out of the top, including the ducky fabric hood. I tied the towel up with a long scrap of fabric from another project. I really meant to take pictures of the finished package, but I forgot! You'll have to trust me that it was really cute.

Finally, that's a detail photo of the project that I spent most of my time on last week. I can't show you more than that because it's going to be mailed to one of you in the near future. I hope to make another one this week in very different colors and with a few adjustments. If that turns out just right, then I'll write up a PDF pattern to sell on etsy! I'm extremely excited about this one; so I'll definitely keep you posted.

The bunnies look like they just want to stay right where they are ~ like they're already home. The towel turned out adorable! You've been busy!

I always feel funny commenting here because I feel like I'm still not supposed to. Anyway, I am so glad you liked the yarn! I have the same kind and color and may copy your idea.

I love the hooded baby towel! You are so talented!
