Who taught the dog to...

...open a Tupperware container?

It's not the first time, you see, but today she chewed the lid off of one of my vintage Tupperware canisters and ate FLOUR! Plain, uncooked flour! Seriously? It's not like she was after fiber; it was WHITE flour. What really gets me is that the bag of flour was on the next shelf up, within her reach! Seems like a lot of trouble when an open bag was only inches away. How can she be so smart and so stupid at the same time?

I have NO idea how she learned that the containers have lids, but she knows EXACTLY where to chew to get a lid off and get the contents inside. She's also gotten a Rubbermaid variety, chewed the lid off and consumed to homemade cookies inside. At least that time she was after something tasty.

So, the 85 pound beast got flour all over her pillow in the basement, licked it up as best she could and then slept in the wet mess. I only thought she needed a bath before.

I also had to clean-up the runny variety of poo and some vomit from the basement floor this morning. Something is definitely up with the furry member of our family.

And after all that the toddler, who has been on a sort of napping strike this week, threw up on my foot after lunch. I was wearing Keens, so he got my shoe, my sock, and my only pair of jeans in one fell swoop. Yeah, more laundry!

I'm guessing that the toddler has been watching too much news. He must have seen all the coverage about the writers' and stagehands' strikes and decided that it would be a good way to make a point. Naps this week have been skipped, offered but skipped, or much shorter than what he actually needs. I can't give in to his demands, though; they are quite unreasonable. He'd like to play with the DVD player, stereo, electrical outlets, and Mommy's glasses. I just can't let him do those things. And I WILL win this one.

Come to think of it, maybe it was him who taught the dog to open Tupperware.
