Things seem to be going along swimmingly (so to speak) for the newest tiny member of our family. I'm starting to feel a little less sick, but no less sleepy. And I seem to be coming down with a cold. That's always fun, especially when pregnant and chasing a little one who is really starting to walk. I bought some fabric to make something small for our little one on Friday. It's a cute orange polka-dot-ish print, and I couldn't pass it up as it was on clearance.
On Thursday my brother-in-law and sister-in-law found out that they're having a boy. They're due a full 7 weeks before we are, so we'll have two little ones back to back in the family. I'm thrilled that our son will have another boy in the family to play with. I'm also happy that they finally picked colors; that means I can get to work spoiling them!
I got to go shopping on Friday and a bought a few fat quarters to use to make them some things. I already have some yarn, and I have plans to buy some more. I'd post pictures, but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise. I really want to put together a whole basket of hand-made goodness for the new little boy.
My sister-in-law and her twin sister made me a wonderful basket of things that they gave to me at my shower. The toddler and I still use the pillows. I really want to return the favor. I have a few ideas, but again, I'm not sharing in the interest of keeping it a surprise. So, any suggestions for great, useful, handmade items for baby? Especially things that are a little unusual?
Some ideas: wool soakers (if they're using cloth diapers), baby mittens, soft toys (maybe put a bell inside), small toys with different textures...I have other ideas but I can't share them ;)
