I must confess that I have eaten and enjoyed Spam.
Ok, now that I have that over with, I can go on with my life. I have also been to and enjoyed the Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota. If you're ever on I-35 northbound through southern Minnesota, you should take the time to stop. It's a hoot!
But this is not the type of Spam I have in mind. I'm sick of the "other" spam. I'm sick of spam email and spam comments. Hubby mentioned yesterday or the day before that someone had spammed our son's blog. Yep, some idiot spammed a one year old's photoblog. To make matter's worse, it was for Viagra! Viagra of all things.
I've had to approve comments for a while. At least 70% of them are deleted immediately due to things like Viagra, Xanax, credit cards, etc. I suppose that someone must let spam comments stick around in their blog and that some of their readers must follow the link and use the product. Otherwise, these spammers would stop, right?
Maybe it's because I'm having a rough week. Maybe it's because I spend all day most days with a one year old, and, well, he doesn't say much in the way of adult conversation. But I could really use some input. I know you're out there. I know that I'm not just posting entry after entry that no one is reading. Or that only automated spam producers are paying attention to. This is your excuse: say hi! Leave me a comment and let me know that you're there.
Who knows, maybe I've been secretly reading your blog...
Don't be sad - I read your blog! How else would I keep up with your fabulous knitting projects? (I can't wait to see how the baby sweater turns out, by the way!)

My very first blog ever I had a TERRIBLE time with Spam. I recently got some on a blog in MoveableType that's not even active anymore! The Spam blocker I have now has literally kept like 200 comments from ever making it live - I don't have approval on my blog, but this keeps the spam ones from going up unless I say they aren't spam - might check into it if it's an ongoing frustration! Changing software can be a pain, but at least that'd be temporary :D
