I'm kinda sad that it's ending! I've really enjoyed doing this. I had an awesome pal named Juli. She really sent me great stuff. My final package came from her on Monday.

Juli sent me two skeins of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in a beautiful cranberry, three more lace scarf patterns, some honey candies (YUMMY!!!!), a hand knit bookmark, a hand knit face cloth, and some Burt's Bees lip balm (Juli, it's my favorite too!). The yarn is a great color and weight; I'll have to find something special to do with it. One of the patterns is the falling water scarf. I've always loved Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, so I'll definitely be knitting one of these. Not only do I like the title, but the lace pattern is awesome. I was secretly jealous of the washcloth Juli had sent for the baby, so I'm glad to get one of my own. And the bookmark already has a special place...
Hubby was kind enough to take the baby for a walk at the plaza last week so I could have some fuss-free time at the bookstore. I had gift cards to spend from Christmas and my birthday. And I bought Mason-Dixon Knitting. I'm SO glad I did. I've already read it cover to cover. As a matter of fact, I finished it in only 4 days. I LOVE Ann and Kay. And I know what my next project will be.
I'm going to take a break from felted bags and writing patterns to knit a log cabin baby blanket from yarn I bought before the baby was born. If I'd had the Mason-Dixon book, I would have knit him a blanket long before he turned 1. Now he's 11 and a half months and I'm just going to get started! I just have to finish the HUGE bag I'm working on right now.
The Spring Felted Bag Exchange is ending at the end of this month as well. June, the wonderful person I've been spoiling, is SO smart; she figured out who I am! I've been knitting away on a bag for her, but I'm not posting pics of it. I wouldn't want to spoil it for her when it arrives in the mail. I have to go get EVEN MORE yarn tomorrow. I should be able to finish the knitting this weekend, get it felted, and have it in the mail soon after.
I've been struggling through this as I am designing the bag as I go. I'm sure that I'll get better at this, but I'm having trouble with figuring out how much yarn I'll need. I think this is mostly because I don't know hoe big a bag will be until I'm finished with it; I let the bag tell me how big it should be. I'll post pictures of this one as soon as I know that June has it.
I can't tell you who I had for SP 10 yet; she's still in suspense. I'll ship her a reveal package early next week. I'll let you know who she was as soon as I can.
I'm also still in the dark about the wonderful person who is knitting me a bag. She's been very secretive...
While I've loved the swaps, I think I'm going to take a short break from them. I've got a mess of a studio downstairs in our basement that MUST get cleaned up so I can get back to work on my artwork. I figured that it would motivate me to get the grunt work done if I made a deal with myself. I'm not signing up for another swap until I have a clean, usable studio space and a clean desk in the office. I'll start posting progress photos of the two spaces next Friday with a before picture. That will give me time to get the bag finished. And I found out today that SP11 sign-ups will end at the end of July - so I'm even more motivated to get it done before then!
