We went to visit our friends Summer and Casey and their two kids yesterday. While we were there the baby crawled under their end table and then started to crawl back out between the leg of the table and a chair. Admittedly, the spot did look too small for him. Summer and Casey quickly alerted us that our little one looked stuck; we calmly told them he would make it. And they were a little surprised when he did, indeed, squeeze through the tight spot. The baby loves to see how small a space he can get through; it's almost like he's trying to figure out just exactly how big he is.
When the dog was a tiny puppy (She's 85 pounds now, but she was the size of a sack of sugar with legs back then.), she was afraid of the vacuum. Every time I got it out, she would crawl under the couch and hide. We joked that one day she would crawl under there, grow little while in hiding, and not be able to get out. She did get stuck one day, but I don't know that she really grew that fast.
And then there's the unfinished circle I've been trying to knit. I can't say that I'm knitting it as I haven't actually added any stitches in several days. I ran out of the color of Cascade 220 I was using in the middle of last week. I called around and located the yarn at a not to be named LYS. I couldn't make it there until Friday afternoon. My friend Linda and her 11 month old joined the baby and I on the drive (about 20 minutes) down there. And we found a note on the door of the store that said, "Jan is sick. Sorry for any inconvenience." So I came home grumpy and still lacking my yarn. I made time to leave for another place early yesterday afternoon so we could stop and get the yarn. This time I was smart and called first. The recording said they were open until 4 on Saturday, but at 10 till they'd obviously closed early. Glad I called...
We were on our way to Lawrence, so we made a stop at the Yarnbarn, my favorite almost local yarn store. They, unfortunately, don't carry that color. I found another LYS that shows it in inventory on the computer, but can't find it in the store. I've worked retail; I know that means it's not there. So I'm stuck between some yarn and a store that's never open.
I'll try one more time tomorrow before I break down and order it from some place on the net.
