I (we?) finally decided on a theme for the baby's 1st birthday party. Monkeys. We've always called him G-Monkey, and he loves going to the zoo, so it seems appropriate. Plus, it should make for a cute cake, invites, paper plates, etc. And it's sufficiently different to not make me feel like one of the masses.
I've been trying to come up with a cute monkey cake idea that is two cakes in one. One for us to give the baby to eat and one for everyone else. And I'm trying to get started on invites; I only have a month and a half until the party, so I'd better get busy. All of this means that I've been monkeying around on the internet looking at pictures of cakes and looking for paper plates, etc. And it's driving me bananas... Ok, so not really; I just wanted to say that. I couldn't resist.
As for the other round. It truly is round; it's a circle. Or it will be. Right now it's a semi-circle. I'm knitting a circle in garter stitch to be the bottom of a bag. I'm excited about this because it's working and it's my first attempt at knitting a circle. I had a few rows done the other night and commented that I was afraid it wouldn't be a circle. My mother-in-law assured me it would turn out; that was when I chose to share with her that I'd written the pattern. Yeah, she was right! I'm halfway and I definately have a semi-circle. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the rest of the bag. I'll post pictures at some point.
Oh, and I still have to make covers for those body pillows.
I don't know if you have already figured something out for the invites and bags and stuff, but at Michael's they sell a "Monkey Party in a Box" that has all of the stuff to make monkey plates, cups, favor bags, and invites. I think it is Martha Stewart brand. Are you at all surprised that I know this? :)
