Tally me bag-nana.

So, I made this for my mom for her birthday; which was Friday. It arrived on time, but I hadn't gotten around to posting it yet. I didn't think it was fair for you guys to see it before she did. Mom doesn't read my blog. My mom may not even know that I have a blog. She's not a computer user.
The bag was knit in the round on size 15 Denise Interchangables with two ply hand spun wool and some double stranded bright yellow Mauch Chunky. The handles are I-cord. And it made 5 trips through the HE washer when I felted it.
I couldn't get Harry Belefonte's The Banana Boat out of my head while I knit the banana yellow and brown bag. Gee, wonder why? So I named the bag Belefonte. We used to listen to him a lot when I was a teen. I think it might have had something to do with Beetlejuice! And I really liked that song. So it was a fitting title for many reasons.
Mom liked the bag, but, truthfully, I'm not all that happy with it. Of course, the good thing about that is even though it was a simple design, I learned a lot from it. I learned that the Mauch Chunky shrinks more than my hand spu when felting. I think triple stranding might have solved this problem, but I don't know that I'll experiment to find out.
Other celebrations on Friday included hubby selling a large framed photo! It was his first, and I am very proud of him. And me getting my pattern submitted to Knitty. I'll keep ya'll know when I hear from them. If they don't accept it - I may just post it here, unless anyone has other suggestions for a place to submit patterns. I know about Magknits. Are there others?
