This is the bag I made for my sister in law. It's a large envelope style messenger bag. It was knit with yarn I spun. I'm happy with everything except the handle. The handle is I-cord and doesn't seem strong enough for a bag this size. Any suggestions?
This is an untested suggestion. I had the idea for a future project but I have not had the chance to try it. I plan to make a cord on a knitty knobby (spool) and feed some heavy cord down the middle as I go. The knitting is then essentially a cover for the stronger handle. Like I said, this is untested so I'd be anxious to hear if you have any success with it.

Why not make a S-cord in place of the I-cord. The S-cord is more of a double-knitted cord and it seems very strong to me. I've just knitted my first one and am pleased with it.
