Yup, I joined another swap. I was having so much fun with SP10 that I decided to do the Spring Felted Bag Exchange too.
Here's my answers:
1. How long have you been knitting or crochetting? How did you learn?
I've been knitting for about 5 years. I learned from a friend of a friend at a knitting group that I was invited to.
2. What are your favorite yarns to knit\crochet felted bags with?
I love Lamb's Pride Bulky. I haven't tried the worsted weight, but I bet that I would like to work with that too. I also spin, so I like to knit felted bags with yarn that I spun as well.
3. What are your favorite needles to knit\crochet with?
I have a set of Denise Interchangables that my wonderful husband bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I usually use those, but I also like aluminum for some projects, especially non-felted things that are "sticky" o knit with. I don't have any bamboo needles except one set of size 3 double points. I liked using them and I'd like to get some larger sizes so I can try them with heavier yarns.
4. What are the last 3 bags you knitted\crochetted (include URL for Yahoo! or flickr album or your blog if you have them!)? You can also link to patterns if you don't have pictures of your finished objects!
I just finished, but haven't felted a large clutch style bag that I knit in fisherman's wool. I knit it without a pattern. Before that I knit a large messenger bag with handspun yarnfor my sister-in-law. I didn't have a pattern for that either, and I'll post a picture of it in the near future - it still needs a button! One of my favortie felted bags is the Mason-Dixon button hole bag. I've knit two of them, one for me in green and blue and one for my other sister-in-law in orange with green and blue stripes.
5. Do you carry the bags that you make, give them as gifts, or both?
Both.
6. What is your favorite felted bag that you have made for yourself?
Definately the botton-hole bag.
7. What are your favorite colors? Do you like bags in these colors or choose other colors?
Green is my favorite color, but I like bags in almost any color. I'm not a big fan of pink, but I do like it in small doses or unusual shades. I'm a big fan of stripes, dots, and other patterns.
8. Chocolate: White, Milk, Dark, or not so much?
Dark or milk with PB. I'm a reese's freak! I really like it all! I've been a chocolate fan of all types for as long as I can remember, but my mother says when I was little I would pick the choc. chips out of the cookies and not eat them. I find that hard to believe.
9. Coffee, Tea, or Milk?
Milk. I don't do caffine - so I never got into coffee. And tea just tastes like leaves in water to me.
10. Do you prefer sweet or salty treats? What kinds?
Both. I love chocolate. I also like treats that combine the two like carmel popcorn or pb cups. I like trail mix, regular popcorn, chips... okay, so I like to eat. I like most snacks, but I'm not big on hard fruit flavored candies.
11. If you went into Bath and Body Works and could only come out with one item, what would it be and what would it smell like?
It would be a bath salt and it would smell like lavendar. I also like spicy or citrusy scents.
12. Do you enjoy any other crafts or hobbies? Do you collect anything?
I spin, hand-dye fabric, quilt, paint, draw and other crafty things. I don't crochet... I don't have anything against it - I just never learned. I collect iron stars and other things with stars on them. I also collect crosses and fabrics from around the world. I like to buy table cloths from places like india and various african countries that were hand-dyed by artisans.
13. Are there any bag patterns you have not yet knit, but hope to someday?
I'd like to try the pick-up sticks circle bag. Noni felted bags fascinate me. I like the Dr. Suess Elephant foot and the baubbles bags. And Little Slip of a Thing from Knitty.
14. What is currently OTN (on the needles) for you?
Bashful smile. Nothing! I'm between knitting projects. I've been speeding through my stash. I'm currently spinning with some brown wool that will be plied with white Merino.
15. What is your most recent finished object before that?
The fisherman's wool bag that I haven't felted yet.
16. What's cutest: Puppies, Piggies or Pixies?
Puppies.
17. Do you enjoy reading? Books, Magazines, or both?
Both. I love to read. I don't have subscriptions to any knitting or spinning magazines.
18. Do you have any children? (kid-kind or pet-kind apply!)
I have a 9 month old son and a 7 year old, 85 pound lab mix. They keep me very busy.
19. What are some of your favorite yarns for other projects?
I love natural fibers and like to support organic growers. I would like to try recycled silk and bamboo yarns.
20. And for the final question, one I see debated all over: Novelty Yarn: Love it! Hate it! or It depends!
It depends. I go through novelty phases, I guess. I like it to carry along with something else sometimes. It seems that it can be good to use in knits for kids.
Oh - and I sew!
Hi. I'm on the Spring Felted Exchange too...and I'm just now getting around to comment on some blogs. I totally believe the part about picking the chocolate chips out of cookies. My 2 does that. And my 4 used to. So fun. Kristen
