It probably seems odd that my first post in I don't know how long is not really for everyone, but I promise to spend more time typing and less time knitting in the future!
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I prefer to work with natural fibers. I also really like organic fibers, and I like to try new and unusual things.
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I store my needles in a drawer in a plastic organizer in my basement studio.
3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I've been knitting for 4 or 5 years and recently finished my first sweater. I feel that I am an intermediate knitter.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? No, I don't currently, but I will post a change if I create one.
5. What's your favorite scent? Lavender.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Yes, but I try to limit my sugar intake. I can't resist Reese's PB cups, though!
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? Yes, I spin, both on a wheel and on a drop spindle. I also weave, dye and quilt as well as draw and paint. I love crafty, scrapbooky like things too.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I like a lot of different music. We listen to alt country, some christian, and folk stuff at our house. I also like things with an international flair. We are VERY MP3 compatible at our house. We have 3 ipods for only two adults!
9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand? Green is my favorite color. I don't really care much for pink and mauve, but I love color in general. I really like varegated (sp?) yarns.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am married and have a 6 month old son. We also have an 85 pound snow lab who thinks that she is sorely neglected now that she is not the only "child" anymore.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Yes, all of the above. Especially for the next couple of weeks!
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Hats and scarves.
13. What are you knitting right now? I just finished a calla lily (yup, a flower) and a scarf last night. I haven't started a new project yet. I'm looking for one.
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? yup.
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? It depends on what I am working on. I only use a circular when I need one. I like bamboo needles, but only have size 3 double points. Most of my other needles are plastic. I use Denise interchangables a lot. I like to use aluminum when knitting with "sticky" fibers like cotton.
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? No. But I could really use both.
17. How old is your oldest UFO? Either I don't have any UFO's or I'm unclear on what a UFO is.
18. What is your favorite holiday? Easter
19. Is there anything that you collect? Stars. I'm a native Texan. Being from the Lone Star State, I have stars all over the place. Childproofing our house will put a damper on this soon, though.
20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I don't have any magazine subscriptions. I would love to have a good book about different knitting stitches. I am interested in felted items and would also like larger (size 8, 9, 10) double point needles.
21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? Knitting lace.
22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? I a sock knitting virgin.
