It's a jungle out there

August 03, 2005

Most of you are probably wondering what happened to me. I know I haven’t posted in a while; it’s because I’ve been really busy.

Last week I worked on “Extreme Makeover: Church Edition” at our church. We remodeled four rooms for children’s ministry in only seven days. It was absolutely crazy and really fun! Kind of like an indoor safari that involved no animals and a lot of paint. I discovered that I like having a purpose. I enjoyed the project so much that I am going to look into volunteering with my local Habitat for Humanity.

I spent my first un-official day at work on Monday this week. I’ve decided on a jungle theme for my art room. In the search for a slogan to put on the wall, I asked my husband and his brother for ideas. Their suggestion? “George, George, George of the art room; watch out for that paintbrush!” I decided on “Explore a JUNGLE of ideas in ART”; I know my idea is more boring, but I think that it will be more educational. I’ll post some photos of the bulletin board and classroom as soon as it is all up.

It’s also been jungle-like outdoors here in K. C. We’re looking at triple digit heat again tomorrow. Even though it will be our first day of 100+ in almost two weeks, the humidity has given us high heat indices for the last few days. I’ve been running in the morning before it gets hot.

Enjoy your own jungle; I’ll be busy creating one. I think I’m ready for school to start so I can have a regular schedule again. I’m also full of ideas and energy for this year. I’ll try to post more often once I get back to work; then I’ll have actual stories to tell of what I did at my jungle of a school each day.
