These stockings were decidedly not hung by the chimney with care this past Christmas. They laid on the back of the couch like they have every year since we moved into this house. We have a great fireplace here, but no mantle. I have mental plans for exactly what it will look like, but I just can’t seem to find the time to build it.
I made the stocking with three trees for the toddler for his first Christmas; the one with one tree was made this year for the baby. I didn’t even bother putting hangers on our stockings! I figure I’ll add hangers when we finally have a place to hang them.
I drew the basic stocking pattern myself, pieced and lined the fronts and used a pre-quilted cotton for the backs. It’s a bit of a cheat, the stocking does have some raw seams inside, but it sews up quick. And quick is definitely needed when you’re sewing for a babes first Christmas.
I just need to make new stockings for the Mama and Dada in this place.
