Composting 101: Our March Small Change

2 March, 2010 (21:54) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

Our small change for March is really, quite frankly, not so small. I’ll happily let the pictures tell the story of what we started whipping up at our house today:

We’ve read books about composting, we’ve looked up information online, we’ve consulted friends, and we even watched a Curious George today about it. And we can’t wait to get our garden planted so that we can start putting some of this good stuff to work for us! (Don’t worry; we put some good brown stuff in there too!)

we use this style of composter! it basically does the work itself, really! turn it with a pitchfork (my guy usually does it), and admittedly, we do not do that very often either. once the worms and such move in, it’s creating wonderful compost! you’ll be amazed at your trash reduction too. yay!

My parents composted when I was a kid, but living in the suburbs with a pesky HOA, finding the right kind of composting set-up is something I haven’t done as of yet. I am interested to hear of the methods you researched, this one included, and why you chose this one. We don’t have a garden but we do have landscaping that would surely love a little bit of yummy compost. Great March challenge! Over from Hip Mountain Mama.
