Taking the show on the road

29 January, 2010 (21:48) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

I’d love to tell/show you all the wonderful things we did in Houston today, but we pretty much just sat around the house. It was cool, rainy, and WINDY here, and the toddler was in need of a good nap. I didn’t even get my camera out of the bag to take photos of a [...]

Tidbits and Potato Soup

27 January, 2010 (21:23) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

For a day where we were pretty well focused on closing things down around here, there sure was a lot going on:

A salad for lunch that I love enough to eat two days in a row: chopped rommaine, grilled chicken, and fermented carrots (see Elizabeth’s post here!) with honey mustard lemon vinaigrette.

More fabric stocked away [...]

Some Days Chicken

Some days feathers.
Mama said there’d be days like these. Yep. It was one of those days. I knew we were in for a rough ride when at 9 am we had to leave the house; the boys were into everything and staying home was certain to cause trouble. We headed to a local community center for [...]

There’s Just Nothing Like a Dad

25 January, 2010 (20:00) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

Being married to a photographer, I find that I spend a lot of time on the weekends alone with the boys. Hubby makes it a point to take Sundays off to be with us, but most Saturdays he spends some time working, especially during wedding season. It’s not wedding season, and there aren’t any holiday [...]

Not an Ordinary Day at the Park

23 January, 2010 (21:01) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

Hubby and I headed out to Shawnee Mission Park last Monday for a bit of time just the two of us. We took our cameras, and spent as much time as we wanted shooting in the fog. It was too cold for much hiking, but we had a lovely day together. I really enjoyed taking [...]

Fabulous Finds

22 January, 2010 (22:00) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

I headed to an army surplus place today to try and the perfect wool blanket for a project; I’ve been thrifting for a bit now trying to find one. Of course, I found wool blankets at the surplus store, but nothing I couldn’t live without, especially considering the $25 or $30 price tags. The wonderful [...]

Peanut Butter Balls

21 January, 2010 (21:33) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

The wonderful people at Mi-Del make an awesome whole wheat graham cracker that both my boys really like. Since it’s sweetened naturally with unrefined sugar, I feel pretty good about giving them to the boys. They also have a great recipe on the side of the box for peanut butter balls (uhhh… Correction, used to [...]

Making it Big

20 January, 2010 (21:10) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

After our small paintings the other day, we decided to get out the big paper. I pulled out two full size sheets of water color paper from my studio (I told you I had a HUGE stash of stuff down there!), and we started talking about and drawing birds and trees. We looked at the [...]

A Sneak Peek

19 January, 2010 (21:53) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

Hubby and I went on a little adventure yesterday…

…cameras in tow, including the Polaroid I picked up for him at the thrift store for $2.50. After a $10 repair, it works perfectly! (And I thought I was going to use it as part of a robot…)

I figured you guys would like to see a little [...]

Showering a friend

18 January, 2010 (14:22) | Uncategorized | By: Jennifer

I was blessed recently to attend a baby shower for a friend. Her sister shared with me that although she hadn’t registered for a sling, she was certain to use one. I had to jump on that and make her one in addition to the quilt I had in the works. The sling cost me [...]
